Empathy Lens is Here!

Apr 7, 2025
Research shows that stigmatizing images of people who use drugs reinforce harmful stereotypes that can worsen health inequities. The recently completed Empathy Lens collection, developed by the University of Washington Addictions, Drug & Alcohol Institute, features free photographs related to drug and alcohol use, prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction. The goal of this project is to reduce stigma against people who use drugs and the services available to support them by encouraging the use of realistic, humanizing imagery in education, media, and other forms of information dissemination anf outreach.
