Mental Health and Safety in Seattle Schools

Seattle Public School District and the City are working together on a strategy to promote school safety, reduce violence, and support student mental health. Mayor Harrell's administration has also implemented additional services to support young people. All Seattle youth aged 13-14 have access to free mental health services. Other services include more than 40 new mental and behavior health professionals at 21 middle school and high schools, Community Safety Teams, and increased police patrols around school campuses. Related programs by the City of Seattle include the Every Child Ready Initiative, which aims to make every child ready to start kindergarten by investing in affordable, high-quality early learning opportunities and seeks to create safe, healthy school environments.
