Standardized Overhead Paging Codes

The Wasington State Nurses Association reports on the new plain language recommendations for overhead paging codes in Washington State. Working with the Washington State Hospital Association, member hospitals are promoting the effort to reduce confusion and increase clarity. Facilities are not required to adopt the new system, but it is strongly encouraged. "Code Blue" for cardiac or respiratory arrest and "Amber Alert" for missing children will remain in effect.
