The Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) provides equitable, high-quality health care through innovative health policies to people in Washington State. The Office of Tribal Affairs at the HCA has formed a Traditional Health Care Practices Workgroup, seeking input from Tribes to guide the Traditional Health Care Practices waiver process. This collaboration ensures the voices and knowledge of Indigenous communities remain at the center of the work. Tribal Nations are helping shape a proposed Section 1115 Medicaid waiver that would allow Traditional Indian Medicine (TIM) — traditional health care practices— to be covered by Medicaid. Get more information about Tribal Health Innovation on the HCA blog: Traditional Medicine Meets Modern Systems: Tribal Health Innovation.
