WSU Study on AI Implementation in Rural Health Clinics

Dec 16, 2024 - A nine-month study on the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) in rural health clinics, led by Anna Zamora-Kapoor, PhD, a sociology professor and researcher in the WSU College of Medicine, concluded that rural health clinics are not a good fit for AI. Factors included lack of current contact information for patients and limited access to the internet and smartphones. Despite the outcome, she said the project was an important starting point to focus more resources on outreach in rural communities.
