According to a recent study conducted at the Yale School of Medicine with funding from The National Institutes of Health Medical Scientist Training Program, AI scribes can be extremely useful in patient encounters. From the students' perspective, standardized patient interviews can be challenging. They were amazed by the AI scribe's remarkable ability to comprehensively capture important information that a real person might miss. While the providers' and students' ability to empathize and maintain a human touch cannot be replaced, AI can encourage students and providers to improve skills, striking a balance between thorough note-taking and connection with their patients.
